The Challenge

Stora Enso Wood Products Planá is a manufacturing site in the Czech Republic with regular visitor traffic, suppliers, contractors, business partners and occasional unplanned visitors. Maintaining a staffed reception desk was costly and slowed down visitor onboarding, while still leaving gaps in security: unauthorised entries were difficult to prevent and tracking visitor movement across the site was inconsistent.

The plant needed a solution that could greet visitors at the front entrance autonomously, verify pre-scheduled appointments, alert the right employees the moment a visitor arrived, and keep a clean audit trail of who entered the premises and when.

The Solution

aReception.ai was deployed as a 32" terminal at the plant entrance running a Linux-based aReception client. Visitors with scheduled meetings receive a QR code in advance and check in at the kiosk in seconds. Unplanned visitors are guided through a simple, intuitive flow that routes them to the right department.

The system notifies the host employee automatically when their visitor checks in, eliminating the need for a phone-based handover. Extended kiosk functionality lets host employees prepare visits, manage delivery drivers, and review their own visitor history, all without involving the (now removed) reception desk.
