iQLANDIA Liberec: AI Guide Holly at a Science Centre
iQLANDIA in Liberec uses the virtual guide Holly to welcome visitors of every age, answer questions across science and history, and turn the entrance into part of the experience.

What we deployed
The Challenge
iQLANDIA in Liberec is a science centre that popularises science and technology through informal education and a hands-on, inquiry-based approach, opening research up to schools and the general public. With so many exhibits and curious visitors of every age, the centre wanted a modern way to welcome people and answer the endless stream of questions.
Staff could not be everywhere at once, and a science centre lives or dies on how engaged visitors feel the moment they arrive.
The Solution
aReception placed a virtual guide, Holly, in the centre. Holly understands natural speech and can answer almost any question: basic information about the science centre, knowledge questions across every field of science and history, even riddles and games, the current weather or a short made-up story.
Holly draws answers from a fixed knowledge base, from Google search and from general AI (OpenAI and ChatGPT), and shows on screen what she heard so visitors can see she understood. She greets visitors, keeps them engaged and turns a simple entrance into part of the experience.
The Results
Visitors of every age now interact with Holly the moment they arrive, get answers and play along, and the centre offers a memorable, modern first touch that fits its mission of making science engaging.
Holly takes routine questions off the team and keeps the experience lively even at busy times, while staying easy to extend as the centre grows.
